Polished off some cream and cream cheese over the weekend so I gained a pound. Don't know why I can just eat one serving or else through it in the garbage.
So now, don't buy that stuff.

The New Year has begun
Have had some ups and downs here. I guess I keep thinking I will eat one more bad thing and still have time to really start. dumb.
But I had a few good days of tuna salad, or turkey and broccoli and that helped lose back a couple of pounds.

Sunday update -- whoops, out to lunch -- +3
Went out to lunch and had some enchiladas and some chips. Then later I had 2 ice cream bars. So all 3 pounds came back. sigh. Part of my excuse is that we officially start our new weekly weigh in after New Years. We are going to lunch today to Ivars for some clam chowder. But then tomorrow I'll be back on track.
I made a nice vinegarette dressing with dijon mustard, orange rind and some juice, and olive oil. I'll get a nice salad ready to take to lunch this week.

Saturday update
Yay, I lost 3 pounds so far so I like looking at my graph!
After being snowed in for over a week, I'll be going shopping this afternoon. All week, I keep thinking about doughnuts or other bad things. I will not act on those thoughts because that just makes it harder. I'm sure sticking with the program gets easier the more I do it. I must avoid buying something and saying I'll start tomorrow. I have already started! The end result will be so worth it.

Goal: 218 by March 26, 2009
I'm setting a new goal date: my birthday, March 26, 2009. I'm setting the goal at 2 pounds a week. The lowest weight I've been since 1980 is about 220. So I will have quite a different body than what I've seen in 28 years! Wow. This is a big project, but I like challenges and this one has a big payoff.

Dec 2008 Week 1
I've been absent here for a while. But I want to get back to tracking and thought I would resurrect this. I am also entering details into fitday.
Food Goals:
Calories between 1200 and 1600
Carbs under 30g total. Around 3 cups of veggies.
Protein between 3 and 6 oz per meal or 3 eggs.
I'm choosing some leaner protein such as fish, chicken breast and flank steak.
Then I add up to about 4T of butter, olive oil, coconut oil or mayonnaise.
Exercise:
Weights 2 times a week with a trainer
Hike once a week - 1.5-2.5 hours
Other 2 times a week (swim, rowing, gardening, walking)
FBG:
Today's: 123
Goal is 85
Last A1C was 6.7
Next A1C and other blood tests due in March 2009.
Weightloss:
Current weight: 245
Goal by Dec 31: 230
(I had just gained 5 pounds over Thanksgiving so it should come off quickly)

Feb 8th week
Managed to avoid eating any bad foods this week. Earlier in the week had nuts every night and just have to put a stop to that.
Fasting BG was 170 on Tuesday!
So Wednesday, I skipped breakfast. Then had chicken and 2 tomato slices for lunch, dinner was salad of mache, radishes, 2 bratwurst, 2 oz muenster cheese, olive oil.
Thursday:
B: 3 eggs in butter
L: chicken, lettuce, 2 tomato slices, mayo and soy sauce
D: salmon and broccoli with butter
By Friday morning, I was down to 140 fbg.
Friday:
B: 3 eggs in butter
L: chicken, bok choy (restaurant)
D: grass fed steak, broccoli, hubbard squash, butter.
Missed the hike today as my friend was out of town. But I'll go for a nordic walk this weekend.
Last week's hike was fun. We wanted to find the Talus caves, but ran into the remaining snow at around 1200 feet. It was too slippery and there was about 4/10ths of a mile to go. So we turned around and hopefully we can try it again in a few weeks. Probably need a flashlight to see in the caves. Maybe there will be a hibernating bear. lol
